WHO?
VOICE is a national campaign made up of families whose loved ones have all unexpectedly and tragically died at the hands of offenders known to be or suspected of being under probation supervision at the time of the offence of murder.

Our heartbroken families are serving a life sentence, intensified by the knowledge that information, accountability and transparency from the criminal justice system is being denied to them. Each of our families has wanted to understand why their loved ones were murdered. Each family have experienced unnecessary delays, and a lack of transparency and communication at every level from probation. The ripple effects of such tragedies touch so many lives, and the known systemic failures identified are being ignored and hidden.

This must change.

WHAT?
Voice is calling for an initial Independent Panel Investigation to uncover the real scale of systemic failings and inadequate supervision of offenders in England and Wales, leading to catastrophic and traumatic consequences for numerous families.
Our families want to know the true scale of the role of probation to supervise and monitor these prolific and dangerous people whilst they lived in our communities.

Unlike other government agencies, The National Probation service is not answerable or accountable to any independent ombudsman or inspectorate. In other words, probation marks, its own homework. Public protection is not a probation priority
.

This must change.

WHY?
Families have many unanswered questions relating to the circumstances surrounding the supervision of the perpetrators.
Families deserve and demand transparency and full disclosure of all information held, regarding how and why their loved ones were brutally murdered - despite probation services being responsible for offender supervision at the time of death of their loved one.
Every murder is one too many.
.

This must change.
Our Aims

1
To secure an independent inquiry/review to establish the true scale of the tragedies from the disastrous failure by the Probation Service to manage offenders
2
To identify the common failings that run across the shared experiences of VOICE
3
To hold those to account who may be responsible for the systemic failures that are identified
4
To deliver the lasting change and reform that will bring justice for VOICE families and ensure consistent mistakes are never repeated
